In 2009, I found out about le tour de femme at a cancer support meeting, breast buddies at Rex, and decided to ride the 30 miles even though I was in the middle of chemo and even though I didn't know another woman who was riding. The community of volunteers and riders were so warm, compassionate and enthusiastic that day that I was hooked. AND, from someone who has been an avid cyclist for, gulp, almost 40 years!, I love the woman only ride that encourages and empowers women to try road cycling!
The organizations that receive money, the Angel Fund and Kay Yow Foundation provide support to cancer patients in our area that is so desperately needed. It is easy to see our money at work in the community.
Each year, I ride for those who are in treatment. Do you have a loved one that I can ride for? It doesn't have to be a woman. Please let me know and I will write their name on a card and to carry on my back. Please consider a donation. Every bit helps.
