Funds I've Raised so far
$1,300.00

Please help me raise funds for 2 wonderful organizations. Here is why I ride....

When I lived in Atlanta, I volunteered at Egleston Children's Hospital, which changed my life forever. First, it made me realize just how teeny tiny my problems really were when I saw these precious children with cancer. Second, I met friends who will always mean the world to me. One of these friends, Beth Jordan, is in the fight of her life, for her life.  Jan. 25, 2010, Beth's life was changed forever when she was diagnosed with brain cancer. A past UGA cheerleader, married to the love of her life, Greg, with 3 beautiful children, she has lead her fight with the most incredible grace, strength, and faith that I have ever witnessed, giving God the glory for His Grace and goodness every step of the way. You will be truly moved and blessed to read her story at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/bethjordan/, even if you don’t know her.  She has touched the lives of so many people who will be forever changed.

UPDATE!  Sept. 21, Beth and Greg had an MRI at MD Anderson. The report? NO CANCER!!! In Jan. 2010, she was given 12-15 months to live. Today, cancer free!  THIS IS WHY CANCER RESEARCH IS SO IMPORTANT!

You know someone like Beth too.  It may be your mom, your best friend, or even you. We all know someone who has been deeply affected by cancer. And mayber they were not so lucky.

My dad, Frank Poole, has had bladder cancer 4 times but is still going strong at 88!

My boyfriend, David, lost his beautiful wife, Susan, to ovarian cancer.

Kathy Bennett, another Atlanta best friend, is a breast cancer survivor.

It’s these, and countless other stories of courage and heart-break that make us want to do something….anything.  My small and feeble attempt to show my love and support for these 4 special people is to ride 31.2 miles in the le tour de femme on Oct. 8.

We can honor courageous cancer victims with our time, talent, and/or finances. On that note, I hope you will consider donating.  My goal is to raise $1000. The beneficiaries of this ride are 2 incredible organizations:

The Lance Armstrong Foundation   (www.Livestrong.org)

At the Lance Armstrong Foundation, we inspire and empower people affected by cancer.

We believe that unity is strength, knowledge is power and attitude is everything. Read our Manifesto. We provide the practical information and tools people with cancer need to live life on their own terms.

We take aim at the gaps between what is known and what is done to prevent suffering and death due to cancer.

We unite people to fight cancer and pursue an agenda focused on:

·      Prevention

·      Access to screening and care

·      Improvement of the quality of life for cancer survivors

·      Investment in research

Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong.

The Angel Fund of Rex Hospital

The Angel Fund, established in 2002 by a grant through the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, enables us to assist patients with special financial needs as they cope with the hardships associated with cancer and treatment. The Angel Fund is available to any cancer patient treated at Rex Cancer Center. Rex Hospital is a member of UNC Health Care, a private, not-for-profit health care system.

Please share your stories and who you would like me to ride in honor or memory of on Oct. 8.

Thank you for your support. (And prayers that I make it that far!)  Special bracelets for all donors honoring Beth.

Blessings to you and yours,
