As founder of Isis Athletics, I am thrilled that the women in our supportive and encouraging, active and health conscious group are participating in le Tour de Femme. We are dedicated to using our athletic abilities to help others in need.
Each of us has been affected by cancer in one way or another. The funds raised by le Tour de Femme go to help cancer research through the Lance Armstrong Foundation and also help local cancer patients through the Rex Hospital Angel Fund. The Angel Fund provides needed support to families and patients through such things as transporation, utility billl payment, groceries, etc. All things that help the family through this very difficult time in life. What an inspiration this foundation is - we are thrilled to be able to help in whatever capacity we can.
All summer long, the women of Isis Athletics have been riding in weekly training rides to build our endurance for the big event on October 8th. I was fortunate enough to be able to lead the "Fast" group each week and had a blast helping women to become even more skilled road cyclists. Others in our group benefitted from any of the other four levels or rides. The organizers of le Tour were fantastic in helping beginner cyclists learn all of the ins and outs of road riding. Those women were able to quickly "graduate" and move on up to supported 19, 24 or 32 mile rides!
Team Isis Athletics is doing our part to raise funds for this amazing cause. Your support is greatly appreciated. Any amount you can donate is welcomed.
This page is dedicated to my Mother in Law, Jeanne Just, who is a Breast Cancer survivor, as well as my friend, Becki Greenwood, also a breast cancer survivor, and my friend Cyndi Gieske who lost her battle with lung cancer in 2009.
Please join us in helping those who need our help the most - thank you for your generosity!
