When my mom got lung cancer, I blamed the cigarettes. When I got breast cancer, I blamed everything from the gallon of milk I drank every week to the teflon coating on the pans I cooked with. The truth is, we still don't know what causes breast cancer. And then there's the co-worker who never smoked a cigarette in her life, but still died from lung cancer, leaving behind school-aged children. Who knows what caused her cancer. There are more cancer survivors in the world than ever, but more people with cancer than ever, too. Not only do we need to keep providing care to those who cannot afford it, we've got to keep the research going until we figure out how to stop it in the first place. Can you imagine a world with a cancer immunization? How awesome would that be? Anyway, I'm trying to do my part to keep the fundraising going by participating in this bicycle ride, le Tour de Femme. I hope you will support my effort by making a contribution, too!
