My personal fundraising goal is $1500, including a partial match to InterAct of Wake County.

I am participating in this event in honor of my father who is a survivor of cancer, 3 of my grandparents who died of cancer, and myself, a survivor of the "social cancers” of assault and domestic violence.  This is my second time riding in this event.  The first time was a few years ago and riding in this all-women's ride was INCREDIBLY empowering and healing for me as I was in the midst of my social cancer. 

As most of you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Also, it is Domestic Violence Awareness month.  What better way to take a stand against these issues then to get out and ride!  We cannot end any of this without open discussion and funding for research, medical care, social care, etc.  

The funds raised for this bike ride go specifically to cancer research and support (Lance Armstrong Foundation and the local Angel Fund of Rex Hospital), but please also consider donating on your own to your local women's shelter.  In the Raleigh area...InterAct and The Green Chair project are great organizations.  On my end, I will personally match a portion of the funds raised for the Le Tour de Femme with a donation to InterAct of Wake County.  If you can, please donate.  Every dollar helps!
